Quick answer
When is the GTA 6 release date?
GTA 6 releases on 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. It opens at midnight GMT in the UK and midnight ET in the US, which is 5am UK time. Japan and Korea open first, at 15.00 UTC on 18 November. Digital preload starts on 12 November.

| US East launch time | Midnight ET, 5am UK |
| US West launch time | 9pm PT on 18 Nov |

| Preload | 12 Nov for digital preorders |
| PC | Not announced, reported for Q1 2027 |

The date is fixed and has been for almost a year. Rockstar moved GTA 6 to 19 November 2026 in a Newswire post on 6 November 2025, and every store, every earnings report and every trailer since has repeated it.
What still confuses people is the time. GTA 6 opens at local midnight in most stores, so the world gets it in waves, and the clocks going back in the UK on 25 October moved some countdowns by an hour.
This page is our single answer to the release date question. Our countdown converts every time below to your zone, and the release date FAQ answers the smaller questions.
When is the GTA 6 release date?
GTA 6 comes out on Thursday 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The PlayStation GTA VI page lists it for PS5 and PS5 Pro on that date, and it is PS5 Pro Enhanced.
It is not coming to PS4 or Xbox One. The PlayStation page lists no PS4 version, and Rockstar's platform page lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only.
What time does GTA 6 come out in the UK?
Midnight GMT, as 18 November turns into 19 November. The UK PlayStation Store lists the game for local midnight.
The UK left British Summer Time on 25 October, so by launch night the country is on GMT. Countdowns built before the change sometimes still show 1am, which is wrong. Our UK release time report explains how that mistake spread.
If you want to play the second it opens, start the preload on 12 November and leave the console in rest mode with automatic updates on.
What time does GTA 6 come out around the world?
Most stores open GTA 6 at midnight in each country's own time. The US PlayStation Store lists 05.00 UTC, which is midnight in New York. These are the times we have checked against store listings.
| Region | Local launch time | UK time (GMT) |
|---|---|---|
| Japan | Midnight JST, 19 Nov | 3pm, 18 Nov |
| South Korea | Midnight KST, 19 Nov | 3pm, 18 Nov |
| United Kingdom | Midnight GMT, 19 Nov | Midnight, 19 Nov |
| US East | Midnight ET, 19 Nov | 5am, 19 Nov |
| US West | 9pm PT, 18 Nov | 5am, 19 Nov |
So Tokyo and Seoul get the game nine hours before London. The Japanese PlayStation Store and the Korean store both list local midnight, as our Japan rating story and Korea rating story set out.
Other countries follow their own store listings. We only put a time in the table once we have seen it on a store page, so check our countdown if your country is missing.
When does GTA 6 preload start?
Preload opens on 12 November 2026 for digital preorders on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, per Take Two's preorder announcement. Boxed copies reach shops the same day.
The box holds a download code, not a disc. So boxed buyers can redeem the code and download early too. Rockstar hasn't published a file size, so our storage guide suggests clearing more space than you think you need.
| Date | What opens |
|---|---|
| 25 Jun 2026 | Preorders, at midnight local time |
| 12 Nov 2026 | Digital preload and boxed copies |
| 19 Nov 2026 | The game itself |
| 20 Nov 2026 | Vintage Vice City Pack offer ends |
Prices are on our price tracker, and the full breakdown is in how much is GTA 6.
Has GTA 6 been delayed?
Twice, and both times before preorders opened. Trailer 1 promised 2025. On 2 May 2025 Take Two moved the game to 26 May 2026, as Reuters reported. On 6 November 2025 Rockstar moved it again, to 19 November 2026.
| Date | Event |
|---|---|
| 4 Dec 2023 | Trailer 1, with a 2025 window |
| 2 May 2025 | First delay, to 26 May 2026 |
| 6 May 2025 | Trailer 2 |
| 6 Nov 2025 | Second delay, to 19 Nov 2026 |
| 25 Jun 2026 | Preorders open |
| 27 Aug 2026 | An Extended Look on Netflix |
| 15 Oct 2026 | Launch Trailer |
Our delay timeline has the detail behind each move.
Will GTA 6 be delayed again?
Nothing points that way. Take Two's first quarter results on 7 August listed GTA 6 for 19 November, preorders have been taking money since June, and boxed stock ships on 12 November.
Insider NateTheHate also says review code has gone out to media, which our review codes story covers. Rockstar hasn't confirmed that.
Take Two reports its second quarter results on 9 November after the market closes, with a call at 4.30pm ET, which is 9.30pm UK time. That results notice is the last scheduled company update before launch.
When does GTA 6 come out on PC?
Not announced. GamesBeat reported on 13 October that Rockstar plans a PC release in the first quarter of 2027, citing four anonymous industry sources. Rockstar did not comment, and there is no PC store listing anywhere.
That would be a much shorter wait than GTA 5's 19 months. Our PC report weighs the claim, and any site selling a GTA 6 PC download today is a scam.
When do GTA 6 reviews come out?
Not confirmed. NateTheHate said on 26 October that the review embargo is 18 November, the day before launch. Insider Gaming separately reported that reviews go live before release. Treat both as reports until outlets publish.
When does GTA 6 Online come out?
There is no date. GTA 6 launches as a single player game, and Take Two's preorder announcement describes a single player experience. Bloomberg's making of feature says the online component is expected in 2027. Our sister site tracks every clue on its GTA 6 Online release date tracker, and our online explainer covers what launches without it.
What else happens in launch week?
Launch week is crowded. These are the dates worth knowing.
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| 9 Nov | Take Two second quarter results, 9.30pm UK |
| 12 Nov | Preload opens, boxed copies in shops |
| 17 Nov | GTA 5 and RDR2 leave PS Plus Extra and Premium |
| 18 Nov | Reported review embargo, Japan and Korea open at 3pm UK |
| 19 Nov | UK midnight and US East midnight launch |
| 20 Nov | Last day for the Vintage Vice City Pack, and The Game Awards cut off |
GTA 5 leaving the PlayStation Plus catalogue two days before launch is covered in our PS Plus story. The Game Awards rules say a game must be on sale by 9pm PT on 20 November to qualify, which our awards story explains.
Plenty of people are clearing their diaries too. BambooHR says US time off requests for launch day are about 13% above the same Thursday in 2024 and 2025, as our time off story reports.
Where is GTA 6 set?
In Leonida, Rockstar's version of Florida, with Vice City at its heart. Our GTA 6 map guide lists the six regions, and the map tool lets you explore a fan sketch of them. The cast is in our characters guide, and the rest of the launch questions are in the GTA 6 FAQ.
