No online mode at launch, no date for one, and GTA Online carries on.
The short version
GTA 6 launches on 19 November 2026 as a single player game. No online mode has been announced or dated. Take Two says it will keep supporting the current GTA Online after GTA 6 launches, and digital preorders include a free month of GTA+ for it.
Quick answer
Will GTA 6 have online?
No online mode has been announced for launch. Take Two's preorder announcement describes GTA 6 as a single player experience releasing on 19 November 2026, and it says it will keep supporting the current GTA Online. There is no GTA 6 Online release date.
The biggest multiplayer game of the last decade is about to get a sequel with no multiplayer at launch. Take Two's preorder announcement says GTA 6 "features a single player experience", and nothing since has added an online mode.
That doesn't mean Rockstar has given up on online. It means the online plan hasn't been shown yet.
Will GTA 6 have online at launch?
No, as far as anything announced goes. Take Two told Game Rant that GTA 6 is a single player title due this November, and that it will continue to support GTA Online after GTA 6 releases and beyond.

What happens to GTA Online?
It keeps running. On Take Two's August earnings call, chief executive Strauss Zelnick said the update cadence for GTA Online "hasn't really changed" and that the company expects to keep supporting it, according to the Motley Fool transcript.
Rockstar is still shipping big updates too. The Kortz Center Heist arrived on 14 July 2026, as listed in Take Two's quarterly results.
Why does a GTA 6 preorder include GTA+?
Digital preorders get a free month of GTA+, Rockstar's paid membership for the current GTA Online. Take Two pitches it as "the best way to get the most out of the ever evolving world of GTA Online", which points at the existing game, not a new mode.
When will GTA 6 Online come out?
Neither Rockstar nor Take Two has said. GTA Online followed GTA 5 by two weeks in 2013, but that is history, not a forecast. Our sister site follows every statement on its GTA 6 Online status tracker.
