The short version

A plane towing a NINE1NINE banner, the fake nightclub ad from GTA 6 Trailer 1, was photographed over South Beach on 14 October 2026. From 15 October, a City of Miami ordinance lets GTA 6 banners go up in a downtown zone for up to 56 days. Miami Beach's beach chair and umbrella deal was still unsigned on 12 October.

Quick answer

What GTA 6 marketing is happening in Miami?

GTA 6 Miami marketing moved into the sky on 14 October, when a plane towing a NINE1NINE banner from Trailer 1 flew over South Beach. From 15 October, downtown Miami can permit giant GTA 6 banners for up to 56 days. Miami Beach's beach chair deal was still unsigned and may start later.

Anyone who watched the first GTA 6 trailer has seen this plane. On 14 October, people on South Beach saw it for real.

A small plane towed the banner along the shore. iGrandTheftAuto shared a photo on X credited to Reddit user SelaromX on r/GTA6, and GTA 6 Info posted it too. Complex then told its 400,000 followers that Rockstar Games was flying it.

Did Rockstar fly a NINE1NINE banner over Miami Beach?

Most likely, though Rockstar has not said so. We found no post about the plane on Rockstar's X account, so who paid for the flight is still unconfirmed.

The timing fits a wider push. A Goodyear airship in Vice City colours headed to Florida this week, and Wynwood Walls unveiled 10 murals for the game, as our blimp and Wynwood report covers.

What is NINE1NINE in GTA 6?

It is a fictional Vice City nightclub. In Trailer 1, a Dodo plane crosses the beach towing its banner, which reads “Why Sixty Nine when you can Nine One Nine?”, IGN noted. Rockstar released that trailer on 4 December 2023.

The joke lands because it is real. Downtown Miami club E11EVEN flies banner planes over the beach every week, its marketing director Eddie Franco told 11Miami. The day after Trailer 1, E11EVEN flew its own reply reading “When Nine 1 Nine = E11even.”

When do GTA 6 banners go up in downtown Miami?

From today at the earliest. City of Miami Ordinance 14490 lets the city permit GTA 6 banners from 15 October 2026, for up to 56 days in a row, with everything down by 31 December.

The zone runs between NE Fifth Street, the Miami River, Biscayne Bay and NE Second Avenue, Miami GTA Tours reports from the ordinance text. Banners can reach 10,000 square feet, and any over 5,000 square feet costs $208,000 per permit.

Miami Today says five large banners would raise $1.04 million for the Underdeck, a planned park in Overtown. Permits come at the request of Take Two Interactive, and as of 4 October no building or artwork had been named.

Are GTA 6 beach chairs on Miami Beach yet?

Probably not today. Miami Beach commissioners voted 4 to 3 on 10 September for a resolution that lets the city manager negotiate with Amplify Marketing Inc. for a campaign commencing 15 October.

The plan puts discreet Vice City and VI branding on beach chairs and umbrellas, worth up to $4 million to the city, Miami New Times reported. But a vote to negotiate is not a signed contract.

On 12 October, reporter Joel Franco said the city told him the deal was still unsigned, and that a 15 October start was “most likely not” happening, GTA BOOM reports. Talks continue, and no new date has been set.

What else is coming in Miami before GTA 6 launches?

A basketball game and a county vote. The Miami Heat play the Milwaukee Bucks as Vice City on 18 November, the night before launch, with a custom court and uniforms, ESPN reports.

Miami Dade commissioners vote on 20 October on branding at the airport, PortMiami and transit, Rockstar Report says, citing the Miami Herald. GTA 6 itself launches on 19 November 2026. If you are near the beach this week, look up, and check our GTA 6 map guide to see which Vice City spots match.
