Charter says eligible Spectrum homes get 1 Gig free from 9 November, the day before the preload opens, and some get 2 Gig.
The short version
Charter's Spectrum Internet is offering eligible US residential customers a free Gig Speed Lift for GTA 6. Customers opt in now through 30 November in the My Spectrum App. From 9 November speeds rise to 1 Gig, or from 1 Gig to 2 Gig in select areas, and return to the original tier on 30 November with no bill change. Rockstar Games is not named as a partner.
Quick answer
Is Spectrum giving free gig speed for GTA 6?
Yes, for eligible US customers. Charter says Spectrum Internet homes can opt in now through 30 November in the My Spectrum App. From 9 November their speed rises to 1 Gig, or from 1 Gig to 2 Gig in select areas. It ends on 30 November with no bill change.
An American broadband company has timed a free speed boost to a 212 GB download. Charter Communications announced the offer for its Spectrum Internet customers on 4 November, in a newsroom post and a matching PR Newswire release.
It matters because GTA 6 is a big file. Rockstar Games says the preload needs up to 212 GB depending on your device, as our file size guide explains.
How does the Spectrum Gig Speed Lift work?
Eligible customers opt in through the My Spectrum App, and the higher speed arrives on 9 November. Charter says the opt in window runs now through 30 November.
The offer is for residential customers with a qualifying plan and compatible equipment. From 9 November, those speeds are boosted to 1 Gig. In select areas, customers who already pay for 1 Gig are lifted to 2 Gig.
Some fan posts say activation opens on 9 November. Charter's release says you can opt in now, and the lift itself starts on 9 November.

How fast does Spectrum say GTA 6 downloads?
Spectrum says its Gig service can download GTA 6 in under 30 minutes. That is Spectrum's own claim, and real speeds depend on your home network, the console and how busy the servers are on the night.
The timing lines up with Rockstar's dates. The release lists the 10 November preload and the 19 November launch, the same dates Rockstar published on its Newswire. Our release date guide has every launch time.
Is Spectrum working with Rockstar Games on GTA 6?
Nothing says so. Charter's release does not name Rockstar Games as a sponsor or partner, and Rockstar has not posted about the offer. Treat it as an internet provider using the launch to sell its fastest plan.
The small print also says the offer is subject to change and restrictions apply. It is a US offer, so UK players get nothing from it.
If you are on Spectrum, opt in before 9 November so the faster line is ready the night before the preload opens.
