The first post we found came from PunksWorldd at 12.28am UK time. Several more viewers posted the same thing over the next hour. Then the account videotech asked if anyone could rewind and find it.
A fan called BrizzyDaGoat could. At 1.23am UK time they replied with a clip and three words, "They played it again". So the spot ran at least twice in one game.
Barstool Sports posted footage of viewers reacting at the same minute, and that clip passed 48,000 views within about 35 minutes.

The GTA 6 TV ad is the Launch Trailer, cut down for broadcast. GameRoll, a GTA YouTuber, put it bluntly. "Nothing crazy, it's literally just the launch trailer."

The TV version is a little tamer. videotech says the spot drops some of the trailer's intimate scenes. BrizzyDaGoat added that the clip was the full commercial, though they missed whether it ended on the "Plays Best On PS5" card.

There was a hint. On 6 October Yahoo Tech covered a deleted Reddit post showing a Fox affiliate schedule with a line reading GTA VI TV SPOT. No air date was listed, and nobody linked it to a real broadcast.

Why would Rockstar buy NBA ads for GTA 6?
Nobody at Rockstar Games has explained the buy, or even confirmed it. But the audience is easy to read.
NBCUniversal says last year's opening night peaked at 7.1 million viewers across NBC and Peacock. This year the network ran three games, and the Knicks game carried a championship celebration and LeBron James in his first game for Philadelphia.
Basketball and GTA 6 already have form. Goodyear's Vice City blimp schedule includes a Miami Heat game on 18 November, the night before launch.
