Rockstar told Bloomberg's Jason Schreier about one small system that says a lot about why the game took eight years.

The short version

Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier said in a video published with his 14 October 2026 GTA 6 story that Rockstar built a scripted sweat system. Jason, Lucia and other characters sweat more the more effort they put in, so dancing hard in a nightclub makes them sweat more. Rockstar has not said how far the system goes beyond that.

Quick answer

Does GTA 6 have a sweat system?

Yes. Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier says Rockstar built a scripted GTA 6 sweat system, so Jason, Lucia and other characters sweat more the harder they exert themselves. His example is a nightclub, where dancing extra hard makes a character sweat more. Rockstar has not explained how far the system goes.

Dance too hard in a Vice City nightclub and Lucia will show it. That is the detail Jason Schreier picked out after his trip to Rockstar North for Bloomberg.

He shared it in a YouTube video that went out alongside his making of GTA 6 story on 14 October, GamesRadar+ reports. The written feature is paywalled, so the sweat detail reached most players through the video.

What is the GTA 6 sweat system?

It is a scripted system that changes how much a character sweats based on effort. Schreier says Rockstar staff described it to him directly.

“They told me that they have a specific system in the game that will make it so Lucia, Jason, or whoever will exert different amounts of sweat depending on how much effort they're putting in,” he says in the video, as quoted by GamesRadar+. “If they're dancing extra hard in the nightclub, they will sweat more than if they are not.”

RockstarINTEL quotes the same passage and notes Schreier calls it “a specific scripted system”. Game Rant places the moment at about 19 minutes 30 seconds into the video.

What do we know and not know about it?

We know it exists and that effort drives it. Everything past the nightclub example is still open.

Game Rant makes the same point. It says Rockstar has yet to explain how far the system reaches beyond dancing, so treat anything else you see claimed as guesswork for now.

Why does a sweat system say so much about GTA 6?

Because it is one small layer on top of many others. Schreier says in the video that it shows “the level of detail they're putting into this game”, and RockstarINTEL says he sees that detail as a top reason the game took more than eight years.

The written Bloomberg story makes the same case with a nightclub of its own. Aaron Garbut, one of the heads of Rockstar North, described how every clubgoer was animated and scripted before drinks, music and lighting went on top. Our Bloomberg report breakdown covers that and the rest of the story.

GamesRadar+ files the sweat system next to other systems already reported, such as the weight gain mechanic, the weather and an iguana it calls robustly detailed. Polygon adds that building the game around a couple, with a relationship between Jason and Lucia that shifts with your choices, took Rockstar years.

When can you see the GTA 6 sweat system?

On 19 November 2026, when GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X and S. So far, every report of the system traces back to what Rockstar told Schreier.

Until then, our GTA 6 characters guide covers who you will be sweating as. Head to a club on day one and you can check Schreier's claim for yourself.
