A cutting room floor video from the Bloomberg visit fills in the player facing detail the cover story left out.

The short version
Aaron Garbut told Jason Schreier that GTA 6's roads are significantly narrower than GTA 5's, with denser traffic built in from the start. Schreier's new YouTube video, posted on 19 October, also covers months of failed weapon wheel replacements, Mark Adamson's Netflix Extended Look idea, an art production team that grew to 65, and Miami research trips that flew over a Beyonce concert.
Quick answer
What did Jason Schreier reveal about GTA 6 roads?
Aaron Garbut told Jason Schreier that GTA 6's roads are significantly narrower than GTA 5's, with denser traffic decided from the start. Schreier's 19 October YouTube video also covers the weapon wheel nearly being replaced, Mark Adamson's Netflix Extended Look, and an art production team that grew to 65.
GTA 5 lets you weave through Los Santos like a racing game. GTA 6 is being built so you cannot.
That is what Aaron Garbut, Rockstar's art director and one of its heads of development, told Jason Schreier. In a new YouTube video posted on 19 October, Schreier emptied the cutting room floor from his Bloomberg Businessweek cover story. The roads are the detail that will change how the game feels under your thumbs.
Are GTA 6 roads narrower than GTA 5?
Yes, Garbut said they are, and denser traffic was the point from day one.
At about 2 minutes 33 seconds, the video quotes Garbut saying the roads are significantly narrower in GTA 6 than they were in GTA 5. The idea is more narrow roads and denser traffic. Garbut warned that those choices come back later, because narrower roads mean a lot more buildings to fill. Some of the artists who have been on the map since 2015 were working inside that decision for years.
Did Rockstar almost scrap the GTA 6 weapon wheel?
It tried for a long time, then kept the wheel.
Rob Nelson told Schreier the team wanted a system closer to Red Dead Redemption 2, where you could not carry an unlimited pile of guns. They worried a weapon wheel would show a bunch of blank spots. So they spent months, if not years, trying trays, webs and versions with no wheel at all. In the final game, it is a weapon wheel again. The video does not say the finished game limits how many weapons you can hold, so that part stays unconfirmed.

Who came up with the Netflix Extended Look?
Mark Adamson, Rockstar's marketing boss, told Schreier a lot of it came from him.
At about 9 minutes, the video explains that Adamson worked on a long cut with others in New York, then showed it upstairs. Jennifer Kolbe, head of publishing, saw it in a dark room and was tearing up. The studio then had to sell staff on polishing about 27 minutes of gameplay for Netflix. Schreier says that work was not wasted. Our Bloomberg report covers the wider making of story this clip sits beside.
How big is the GTA 6 art production team?
Sixty five people, up from about five or six on GTA 5, Garbut told Schreier.
That is the art production team, the producers who track tasks and timings, not the artists painting the world. The reporter says the change helps the studio estimate how long work will take and can head off overtime spirals. He also says it has its pros and cons, and can add bureaucracy. Rockstar's headcount rose from 2,441 staff in 2018 to 4,711, figures Schreier already used in the Bloomberg piece.
What else did Schreier leave out of the Bloomberg story?
A Red Dead Redemption 2 prototype, a Beyonce flyover and a birthday in a Miami club.
Mark Tennant, Rockstar's vice president of animation, built a 2014 or 2015 prototype where aiming at someone opened greet or antagonise options instead of just a gun. Schreier quotes Nelson saying, "This will revolutionize the way our games and our worlds work." He is not sure whether GTA 6 has a deeper version of that system.
On Miami research, artists in a helicopter taking aerial photos ended up hovering over a Beyonce concert. Jonathon Ashcroft, senior vice president of technology, spent his 40th birthday in a Miami nightclub on one of those trips, with the Scottish visitors scrutinising the lighting. Locals, Ashcroft told Schreier, want to tell you every crime they or their friends have ever done once they know where you are from. Police ride alongs are part of that research, and Schreier already mentioned them in the cover story.

What does Garbut say about who holds GTA 6 in their head?
Nobody holds all of it.
Near the end of the video, Garbut is quoted saying there is no one person that has this whole thing in their head. That fits a studio that grew past 4,700 people and still left artists alone long enough to keep shaping Leonida's streets for more than a decade. The delayed release date of 19 November 2026 is the date those narrower roads finally meet players. Our delay timeline tracks how that date was set.
