The IWGB's Rockstar branch posted on X on 27 October that "in a few weeks' time, Rockstar staff will get to have their own say over union recognition." When is the Rockstar union vote?

So the vote is not on launch day, whatever some posts on X say. It opens a week before and closes a week after.

What would union recognition change?
The deal covers pay and bonuses, overtime, redundancies, flexible working arrangements and generative AI policies, according to the IWGB's press release. If staff vote yes, the union says it would be the biggest recognised union in the UK games sector.
The IWGB has organised at Rockstar since 2019, across the Edinburgh, Dundee, Lincoln, Leeds and London studios, and asked for voluntary recognition in June. Kotaku reports that workers hoped for that before launch, "but it has gone to a vote instead". No staff numbers or voting threshold have been published.
IWGB president Alex Marshall put it in big terms to GameSpot.
“For anyone who cares about the games industry or the people who keep it running, this vote is just as historic as the game release.”
What has Rockstar said?
Nothing on the vote. Rockstar had not commented by publication, and none of the outlets reporting the ballot has a statement from Rockstar or Take Two.
The only management line is an earlier one. Rockstar head of publishing Jennifer Kolbe told Bloomberg "We go where the team goes. So if they want a union, they will have a union."
The ballot is separate from the employment tribunal over last year's sackings, where former staff backed by the IWGB say they were dismissed for union activity and Rockstar denies it. Closing submissions are due on 17 and 18 November, according to Rock Paper Shotgun, and Game Developer says the vote runs independently of the case.
For players, 12 November means a download. For Rockstar's UK staff, it starts a ballot that runs until 26 November, a week after GTA 6 is out.
